Please save the date and attend the WNY Sustainable Energy Association’s Reitan Speaker Series at Hallwalls for a night of innovation and Green Building design. UB Professor of Architecture Martha Bohm, UB Clinical Assistant Professor of Architecture Brad Wales, along with their graduate students will unveil the renderings of GRoW House. This is a first time entry for the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning in the US Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon bi-annual competition that will be held in Irvine, California in 2015. The UB Solar Decathlon design entry incorporates the latest green design technology and renewable energy implementation that will enable the inhabitants to Grow, Relax and Work; GRow House! Kevin Connors is an architect and engineer with 34 years of professional experience, and former Clinical Assistant Professor of Architecture at SUNY Buffalo. eco_logic STUDIO specializes in Green Building and Neighborhood Revitalization. They have designed numerous solar electric systems, green infrastructure projects, and high performance buildings.
David Lanfear designs green roofs and builds strawbale buildings in Western New York, the Northeastern US and midwest. He has been involved in dozens of projects in the Buffalo, NY area. His company, Green Top, has a goal of installing so many green roofs that whole neighborhoods disappear from the view of Google Earth. He recently began teaching Green Building at Erie County Community College (ECC).

WNYSEA will award the University at Buffalo for their excellence in leadership for the implementation of clean and renewable solar energy. The UB Solar Strand is a large scale solar demonstration project that is responsible for generating power to over 750 college residences on the UB North Campus. Please don’t miss this important event on Earth Day 2013!

Experience the country’s most accessible solar park for yourself!
Meet Buffalo Niagara’s “Sustainability Igniters”–our local leaders and innovators in environmental sustainability. Interactive texting and technology from GROW 716 will be part of the celebration. In addition, there will be exhibits from local sustainability organizations, local food, music, prize giveaways, and much more!
Preferred bike parking is available at the Solar Strand, automobile parking is available in the Center for Tomorrow lot directly across from the Solar Strand.

A panel discussion entitled “Clean Natural Gas? Exploring the Challenge of Hydrofracking” will be held at 7:30 p.m., Monday, October 29, in room 336 Duns Scotus Hall at Daemen College, 4380 Main Street, Amherst. The event is free and open to the Public.
The discussion will be preceded by the film, “The Sky is Pink,” produced by Josh Fox and the Gasland Team. Panelists are David Kowalski, Professor Emeritus; UB CLEAR; Blogs: j.mp/ReEnergizeBuffalo & j.mp/CleanEnergyNow; Scott Sackett, President, Skipping Stone Pictures; Joseph Currier, Mathematics Major, Daemen College; Lynda Schneekloth, Chairperson, Sierra Club Niagara Group (niagarasierraclub.wordpress.com/).
